I love my synths. It has taken me a week to figure out how Hydrocity 2 works. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AL2SPN4V

It's missing a few things but i promise it'll get better from here.

Your synths have lots of static sound to them. If you used cleaner sounds I'd probably like it more.

I'd have to agree with Stefan.

You seem to have good potential with this, as it certainly is creative, but in the end this rendition simply sounds too noisy. Keep working at it!

It's a great song, lots of stuff going on!

But a bit messy, so I'm sure you'll know how to handle that.

Wow...bump is needed.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SGZ6R3FD

This one would be Flashman's Theme from Megaman 2. Sorry if there is crackling. I'm trying to sort that out.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QNRNFH4W

Continuing with Megaman 2 this is Metalman

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ON9UO8YK

And now we go back to the jungle. All of these are still Work in progresses.

Those are all great. :B Especially the Jungle theme...I picture chimps in tophats. XD

A new MIDI has appeared!

Another character based theme. I meant for it to have a similar feeling to E-102 Gamma's theme, but somewhere along the way it started sounding a bit like Polish disco. :P

I don't like it as much as glowsticks, but it's still a great midi. You're really developing your songwriting techniques; everything you write is sounding cohesive and.. complex, while not being "busy".

Oh wow....that struck me a chord. That is probably one of the best MIDI's i've heard in a long while. its funny how MIDIs work really. They helped me make this.

Why thank you, dudes!
I just noticed this has a rather rainy feel to it, but that alright 'cause Balkaku's a rainy planet! *shot*

Nice work on the Apatos Day theme, really nice listening, since it's such an airy theme already.
MIDIs are great, too bad they can sound so limited at times. :/

:/ Can't tell that anything's missing, although you could try giving it a heavier drum line and see how that goes.
Pretty awesome though!

Since you make a lot of remixes, are they usually based from other MIDIs? Or do you do stuff by ear?

And I figure why not. I have 2 other MIDIs I can show.
Fountain is finished, I also managed to get a very good conversion for it>http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RF38XGKO
Balkaku is unfinished. Any suggestions for improvements for the drum line?

Edit: Since I can't figure out how to finish this [it's that fast ass drum line], I've attached my MIDI version I was making [so I could use it for piano] of Adabat's Day stage theme. Maybe one of you would like to do something with it.

Wow. Nice Work on the Adabat one. However yes it is missing the drumline. That is probably on of the defining features for Unleashed's music. Also the Glass/Bell's Pitch seems to be far off from the pitch scale. As how i get remixes. My ones from True Area 53 and before were all based off ear. Now its a combination of both. MIDIs imo is like cheating. Some, like the Apotos theme are "Examples". As in i put synths to them to get a listen of each individual part in the MIDI tracks. (Also WMP sucks for me as well >_>). Not to mention some parts in certain songs that use harmonies (chords, etc.) such as Thunder Tornado and Jewel Man (the pitch twangs) are too hard for me to distinguish and thus i use MIDIs (if i can find them) Oh WIly 3 from MM9 would be a good example.

Currently working on Jewel Man's theme.

also Egg Rocket: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZLTPA3TD

EDIT: Just realised that for the bells there may be two of them harmonizing.

I love that Unleash has music with such complex drumlines. Too bad you have to be some kind of music god to figure them out for yourself.
Funny thing, I happen to be better with chords than with individual notes, probably because chords have "feelings". XD

Good work for figuring out all those songs by ear. Must get frustrating. XD
Also, nice work on this Egg Rocket theme.

Hmm..I think I should get to that flute solo in Adabat, eh. Now that I think of it, do you think the whole song is playable on piano? I used piano to figure out everything, but for the parts where you hear more drum than anything else, do you think there's something that could be playable there?

I understand what you mean by feelings. Itwasn't really hard since the songs i made were all easy by ear. TA53 was hard enough. >_>

Not sure if it is playable on piano. I think there's 3 leads, a rhythm and a bass. I'll check it out soon enough. Save the drumline for last as i can't do it.

The offbeats have a high hat on them, and all the other 16th notes in there are some shaker instrument. Then the last eight beats of each phrase are crescendoing snares (with the old stuff still going on).  And at the first beat of every four beat phrase has some tom or bongo on it. It shouldn't be too hard to replicate with that knowledge. :P

Here's a sample with a basic drumline added from how I hear it at least:

Okay yes i've confirmed your bell hits are off scale. I'm working on it now. Its starts at G3/4 not C4/5. (Your choice of octave :P)

EDIT: Here are the notes (since i don't use a MIDI editor or w/e):

G C D# D G# C D# D
A C F D# G# C D# D

That C is bolded/underlined as i think that may be th only off note that is there. And if you want to test this play http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2F4NXF03 along with the JJ-D theme itself (intime obviously) to see. :D

2ND EDIT: Okay so Another problem with the original MIDI. The Gong/Glass Hit at the start is followed by the flute. But 2 beats after, not 1.

3RD EDIT: Okay so its D#.

4TH EDIT!!!: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SQXV7TU1 Is better than the old one.

This is getting melodies "by ear" people. :DDD

I like taking popular songs and arranging them for small-band performances that I'd be able to do with some friends for school assembly performances and the like, and I decided to try Stevie Wonder's "Superstition". It turned out better than I expected.

Can only hear the bongos in that MIDI. Maybe the other instruments are too soft?

I hear the instruments fine, I think it might be your sound settings rather than the midi settings.

So I've got two songs I'm working on right now, and I think I've developed adequate instrumental backgrounds for both. I can hear a melody and a chorus for both of these songs, these midis are just wip instrumentals for them before I layer them with a melody and new parts to the songs. Any feedback on them? My goal is to make each song a good 3-ish minutes long and process them into good sounding mp3s so I can get closer to making "real" music instead of my usual zone of "sonic" music.

They're both good [with the second song sounding slightly more interesting, but that's just me], I have a suggestion though, does any other instrument work better than the lead in the second song? Sounds like you could try a different instrument there, but it's nothing major, eh.
The first one's great, obviously would be better with some different parts added in. :>

ALSO, has anyone else noticed that the flute solo in Jungle Joyride Day sounds just like the one in Sonic R's Regal Ruins?

FYI: Wily Castle 2 from megaman 9. My friend (some wog) says it needs more bass. Comments?

It's funny, I think, that we post many MIDIs that stay unfinished. Well, I do that a lot And instead of finishing them we just make new ones!

New one here, this time a theme for 2 characters, but I'm always putting them together. Therefore, they shall share a song.
See what I did thar? Different instruments for the two.
